Our cubicles

Friday, I had this idea to capture images cubicles of different individuals in my team. Turned out this was an interesting theme for a lot of my friends.

Here's the assortment of pics and an FAQ
Guy's Desk

Girl's Desk

Two guys desk

Manager's Desk

HR's Desk (Obviously a Girl)

After seeing these desk’s we can safely assume that a Girl’s desk has to HAVE A DOLL.

Question) Why is there a doll on every girl’s desk?
Answer) These dolls are used for different purposes – decorating, grooming, for play (when no one is looking).

Question) Why are guy’s desk so cluttered and girl’s desk so well decorated?
Answer) Guy’s are too busy at work to take care of their desks. On the other hand, the girls… Well what can I say, they are girls!!!.

Question) Is it true HR’s are all like this
Answer) Yes. Some are worse J

Question) What about the manager’s desk?
Answer) No comment.

Send Email later.

Last week, I wanted to send a mail at a particular time even if I was not at desk. Outlook 2003 provides this feature. The information was found here .

Here are the steps

- Open Outlook 2003 and compose your email message.
- Select the Options button. The Options dialog box will appear.
- Select the Do not deliver before option.
- Use the first drop down arrow to select the date when you want the message sent.
- Use the second drop down arrow to select the time when you want the message sent.
- Click OK.
- Click Send.

This may come in handy when follow-up emails are required at a particular time or if you want to send your resignation email!

Today at Office: Hard Work?

And I came to the office with the above T-Shirt, Nice? It was actually gifted by a colleague when he came back from US. He says that it was perfect for me....hmmm.

So having nothing to do, I came up with this idea to take pic with my mobile and upload it here.

I plan to start this new theme - "Today at Office". It should be having something interesting at Office, new learning, images, people etc. There is always something in a typical day at work.

Today, my boss had a long chat with me in the cafeteria. You know, the typical boss-worker thing during the last days of an employee. It was a good chat.

i'm lovin' it

That's what McDonalds says, and that's what I say, during this two months notice period in my current company. I'm trying to have a lot of fun - both inside office and outside. I absolutely have no work and my boss is so nice, he does not share the team's work load.

And so I'm havin' lot of fun, travelled a lot, doing new stuff and then searching for blogs.

I've tried to explore my photography skills with my mobile at the Office. see below

Top: 13 days 2 become a ThoughtWorker.
Left: A poster. Suresh had this bright idea to stick it on our cubicle.
Right: Cold Coffee?

Other things I did

  • Trip to Hyderabad for a week. Relaxed at home and then helped mom to shift house.

  • My childhood friend came over to stay for a week. We travelled to Nandi Hills and Sivanasamudra. Beautiful waterfalls and lakes to swim around in Sivanasamudra.

  • Took a bike trip with office guys to Nandi Hills. I got to ride an Enfield Thunderbird.

  • Started Horse Riding at Palace Grounds, Bangalore (My bottom is taking a good beating)

I loved driving the Honda City (My bro's car in Hyderabad) and the Thunderbird. I decided that my next car would be a Honda City and the next bike, an Enfield. No idea when I can afford them.

I do have more things planned in the next few days

  1. Learn diving.

  2. Create a Home Page.

  3. Learn Typing (!!)

And I hope to add more posts...

A fake ThoughtWorks?

Uh - oh! I just saw another company named as "The ThoughtWorks, Inc." They are based in USA and Canada. They sell a software product called ESP. The url is http://thoughtworksinc.com/

Here is something from their website

At ThoughtWorks, we specialize in Human Resources and Scheduling software.
What do you make of this? Is this legal?

GOD! Where are the Testers????

I've been searching for the last two days and I cannot find a single blogging ThoughtWorker who is a Tester. Does this mean there are no Testers from ThoughtWorks, who can blog really well? or guys, are you too busy?

All I find are great blogs from dev guys in TW, and then topics about ruby, rails, java, selenium nada nada.

What about Testing, Testers at ThoughtWorks, test automation, bugs.. where are all these topics from a TWer?
